Lourah Is Live On Friday At NoodleBar
NoodleBar on Friday is hosting a live concert from Lourah, an up-and-coming trio from Janesville, Wis., that's making its North Shore debut in Lake Bluff.
Lourah's music is described as featuring rich, harmonious vocals and lyrics steeped in soulful disclosure revealed by singer/songwriter, Leah Brooke Conway, and her partner, Brad Corso. Their poetic and sometimes cryptic lyrics resonate with their acoustic sound, accented by electric looping and an eclectic assortment of percussion instruments played by all three members, including percussionist, Nick Fox.
Lourah recently celebrated the debut of its first album, titled Leah of Lourah--a small collection of songs written by Leah Brooke in the past five years, and the group is currently preparing to record a second, full-scale album of music encompassing pieces by all three members. Lourah's sound is broadly defined as folk rock alternative and is inspired by such artists as Neko Case, Fiona Apple, and Edie Brickell, along with many others.
Though the group hails from Wisconsin, Lourah has local ties--Leah Brooke's uncle operates the Frame Forum on Western Avenue in Lake Forest. The music starts at 8:30 p.m. in NoodleBar's Latitude Lounge, and there's no cover charge.
